The on-loan midfielder was speaking after The Bluebirds 3-2 defeat at Whaddon Road at the weekend.
He shared head coach Andy Whing’s opinion that they had been too naïve as 2-0 lead was surrendered against Cheltenham Town.
And he told the club’s official YouTube channel that they needed to dust themselves down and go again at the Mornflake Stadium.
He said: “Now we have got to react and comeback better against Crewe.
“Two goals in front, with the way we have been playing as well.
“Two great wins back-to-back, and two goals up, the confidence should be there to go and win the game.
“I thought we were going to, especially after the first 55 to 60 minutes.
“I thought we were really good until then and we shouldn’t be losing that game.
“It just a bit of naivety from all of us and we have given them that bit of confidence when they have got a goal back.
“They’ve grown from that and gone and won the game.
“The gaffer has said the last two games for 60 minutes we have been very good, and 30 minutes has coast us (against Cheltenham).
“I don’t think we deserved to lose, and we’ve come away having done so, so we are all really disappointed with that result.”
On a personal note, Whitfield was pleased to find the net for the first time on his second spell in Barrow colours.
He added: “I was delighted (to score). I’ve come back to enjoy my football, assist and score goals to help the team win.
“I was doing that for the last two games, and was doing that for 60 minutes (against Town), but it’s not an individual game it’s about the team and hopefully now we can bounce back against Crewe and get a win there.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it (being in the starting line-up). The gaffer has put a lot of confidence in me and hopefully I have repaid him the last few weeks.
“I’ve enjoyed every minute so far. We’ve got a great group of lads.
“Lads who want to win and are going to fight for each other.
“We have a good togetherness, and I have no doubt that this team and the management will group together and bounce back.”
