Blackwell House
Designed at the turn of the last century by the architect Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott, this elegant house is one of England’s finest surviving examples of Arts and Crafts architecture. Nearly everything in the house is handmade, a deliberate reaction against the industrially-driven ethos of the age. Highlights include the light-filled White Drawing Room and the lavish Great Hall, which showcase the natural motifs, craftsmanship and painstaking level of detail that became synonymous with the Arts and Crafts movement.
