Cumbria Underwater Hockey Club starts in Carnforth

Cumbria Underwater Hockey Club uses Carnforth Community Swimming Pool every Thursday at 7.30pm. Their team includes players with experience up to Team GB level.

Team member Olivia Draycott said: “We are hoping to introduce the community to the sport that we love. Sessions run every week and we are keen for players to come and join us. If you are new to the sport and fancy trying it out, then that is okay by us. 

“We have our team in hand to help you get used to the sport in no time.”

According to Rules of Sport, Underwater Hockey was invented by the British Navy to keep divers in shape. It became popular in Australia before expanding across the world. It is sometimes called Octopus, and the object of the game to hit the puck into an opponent’s goal.
