A joint funding project between the Hall Trust and Hawkshead Lodge has resulted in a new stairlift at Hawkshead Market Hall.
The hall is both a community asset and the home of Hawkshead’s freemasons.
Both the Hall Trust and Hawkshead Lodge donated £3,000 each to enable a stairlift to be installed.
This has made access to the upper floor much easier as the stairs are very steep and hard to negotiate for less agile users of the building.
Peter Schofield, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, said: “This evokes the true spirit of freemasonry, raising money for a project to benefit everyone in the community at large.”
Chris Gray, the Chairman of the Furness and South Lakeland Group of Lodges and Chapters, said: “We heartily applaud Hawkshead Lodge’s community spirit, and thank them on behalf of the Market Hall’s many users.”
