Police Sergeant Dawn Boyd is due to appear before a public misconduct hearing at Federation House, Carleton Hall, Penrith, on September 21.
The hearing had originally been scheduled for January this year but was postponed.
Cumbria Police has confirmed the allegations to be considered next week remain unchanged.
The case centres on the morning of December 23, 2025, when PS Boyd is alleged to have driven to Ulverston Blue Light Hub and arrived for duty at about 8.45am.
Breath tests carried out
A misconduct notice alleges she was ‘unfit through intoxication’ when she drove to work.
She was found to have 40 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath at 9.16am, according to the notice.
Further tests at 10.34am and 10.39am are said to have recorded 31 micrograms.
The legal drink-drive limit in England and Wales is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.
The notice also alleges PS Boyd had consumed a bottle of wine the previous night before reporting for duty.
The notice says she ‘knew or ought to have known’ she was in breach of Cumbria Police’s acceptable alcohol limit at work, which is zero under the force’s Substance Misuse Policy and Procedure.
She is accused of both driving to work and parading for duty while ‘unfit through intoxication’.
Gross misconduct alleged
The notice says aggravating factors include the fact PS Boyd was a supervisor at the time and that Cumbria Police was ‘especially vigilant regarding drink driving at that time of year’.
Her alleged conduct is said to breach the Standards of Professional Behaviour relating to Fitness for Duty and Discreditable Conduct.
The notice says the alleged behaviour would ‘discredit the police service and damage public confidence in it’.
Cumbria Police alleges the conduct amounts to gross misconduct and is ‘so serious as to justify your dismissal’.
The hearing is due to begin at 10am.
