The bird was spotted outside Happy Feet on Stricklandgate in Kendal “looking a bit lost”, Cumbria Police said on social media. 

However, the animal was safely caught by a local Police Community Support Officer (PCSO), Hayley.

Taking to social media, a police spokesperson said: “Thanks to PCSO Hayley’s expert poultry handling skills, the pigeon was safely caught and boxed up in no time.

“With some fantastic teamwork and help from the staff at Crumb (café), we are happy to report the bird is now hopefully on its way back to its owner in Whitehaven.”
