The collision happened between Low Hesket and High Hesket on Friday, October 16, and involved an Audi and a Hyundai.

The driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman in her 70s, who was a passenger in the Hyundai, remains in hospital with serious injuries.

Cumbria Police said investigations are ongoing and have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward to help with the investigation.
